Announcing an Exhibit and ART TALK with Bryn Gillette

“Honoring These Sacred Shards . . . “
An Exhibit and ART TALK with Bryn Gillette

Gallery 25 and Creative Arts Studio welcome our current guest artist, Bryn Gillette, and invite artists and other to meet him following an Art Talk on Friday, November 11 at 7:00 PM.  This exhibit for Gallery 25 in New Milford is his “homecoming”, not having shown in New Milford for more than 11 years.  These same paintings have traveled from NY, MA, CA, OR, NC, to Haiti, and now back.  (More on our events page.)

After four summers of love and labor, Bryn’s twelve “Haiti - Beyond The Ruins” panels are finally finished. These door-size "portals" (80x32”) are his painted prayers that God's Kingdom come in fullness in Haiti.  He has tried to put vision to his inner groaning, grieving Haiti’s brokenness, celebrating its beauty, and imagining its restored destiny. They stand together as witnesses, both to the destruction of the 2010 earthquakes, as well as championing each of the "Seven Spheres of Influence" critical to national restoration: Education, Government, Family, Religion, Business, Media, and the Arts. It is his prayer that these paintings host conversations asking, "What does it take to restore a nation?" and become a catalyst in the search for an answer. May God inspire us as individuals, communities, and nations to open the doors to a Haiti beyond the ruins.

Bryn & Kirsten Gillette.  Children Cai (10), Kea (7), Skyler (4), Lily (1)

As “husband, father, and passionate follower of Jesus Christ”.  He earned his B.A. in Visual Art from Gordon College in 2001 and his M.F.A. in Painting from Western Connecticut State University in 2009.  Bryn is currently a full time art, photography, and Bible teacher at Trinity-Pawling School in NY.  He is the co-founder of TeamOne:27, a non-profit dedicated to serving the needs of Haitian orphans, and spends the majority of his artistic time as an advocate and champion of the needs of his Haitian “family”.

The Art Talk on Nov. 11 will be followed by a reception with light refreshments. The exhibit is on display currently and will run through Sunday,  November 13.
