Resuming Gallery 25's Efforts to Provide Interesting and Diverse Visual Arts Programs

Renewing interest and growth in the local art scene is a priority of Gallery 25 and its member artists. In March, the gallery will offer two programs free to the public.

The first (free) program will be given by Sue Healy, a gallery member who will exhibit a special collections of her works from March 1 to 25. Sue will exhibit a collection of her paintings "The Alice Series" inspired by the book "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll.  On Sunday, March 11 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, Ms. Healy will give a brief presentation about the paintings, and be available for questions. The collection will remain on display until March 25.

A second (free) program will be offered on Thursday, March 15 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Alain J Picard, an award-winning portrait artist, will demonstrate the "Painterly Portrait" using pastels as a medium. On this evening, a live model will sit for a portrait, and the public will be invited to watch Mr. Picard paint, while speaking about his techniques for creating an accurate likeness, establishing clear values, evaluating color relationships and selecting skin tones. The importance of developing a painterly style and harnessing the power of strong design will be included.

Linda Breen,  Chairwoman of New Milford Commission on the Arts which sponsors Gallery 25, encourages the addition of free visual arts programs. “I am so happy to see Gallery 25 settled in at the railroad station, and now adding to its offerings with free-to-the-public events. New Milford will continue to grow artistically as a result.”

Seating for each program is on a first come basis. Gallery 25 respectfully requests that a parent or guardian accompany children or young adults.
